Useful links for the SHARE IT! project:
MY-TV (January 2000 – December 2001) is the predecessor of Share it!. It concentrated on a storage device as end-terminal in the home for TV-Anytime services. The platform makes use of the DVB-MHP extended with storage APIs. The applications and services developed in myTV are: (resident) navigators, a segmented latest news application, and third party TVA data services. Share it! will built upon the results of myTV in that the terminal will be opened to other users in so-called Virtual Family Networks as a secure form of video Napster.
NEX-TV Parallel to my-TV runs Nex-TV, a project that mainly aims at carrying out studies on new business models for interactive digital television made possible by new multimedia technologies, such as MPEG-4. The applications selected for NexTV are an interactive story telling application for kids and myGuide , where normal EPG information is enhanced with information from the Internet, such as advertising and shopping sites.
ICE-CREAM NexTV’s successor is ICE CREAM. This project investigates the potential of new technologies, e.g., MPEG-4 and Internet, for designing new concepts for interactive and enhanced broadcast, to create programmes and environments in which users can interact with the content of the programmes and compose personal programmes to create, with simple tools, personal flavour and emotion, i.e., to create their personal immersive experience. It will further develop and implement these concepts in applications in an end-to-end delivery platform, to evaluate with end-users in the home environment, and to investigate the impact of personalisation and the role of stakeholders on the evolution of business models. The applications will probably come from the sports area and another one for kids.
SPATION is another new project (start date mid 2001) that aims to find solutions for the movement, organisation and retrieval of information in a heterogeneous home system consisting of interconnected CE equipment.
